Skinning is starting to finally make sense to me! Especially since I finally got the DDS plugin to work on Photoshop! I decided to take things slow... (Forest walls) I decided to do something completely random, but I was hoping it would turn out better than this... It's suppose to be metal... it looks more like stone... and not very complicated stone at that. (Canadines) After my forest fiasco, I decided to do something not completely random, and a bit easier! I went for a simple recolor! It didn't turn out too bad. I actually kind of like it... but it wasn't exactly what I had in mind. P.S. The transparency in the player icon in GAMA's HUD annoyed the hell out of me, so I made it completely opaque. I intend to go back and smooth out the entire HUD a little bit (besides the PSU icons, but he didn't make those). I also want to find that annoying line in the bottom left of the screen where the team chat icon pops up and erase it.

Okay so there was something that was annoying me to death every time I tried to make a new character: Notice the a;dslfj text. "Character N-"....... It never got in the way... but still, I had to do something about it (once I finally felt like it). So I took some time and made it into this: It was rather simple, but a major pain. Having to move the text, and shrinking it and whatnot... well, I got it done (at least I think it's done). I put this up on Schtserv.com here... I hope they appreciate it

So I was looking through the skinning section on schtserv, and saw Keezy's request. Seeing as I had nothing to do, and Keezy was too lazy to pirate Photoshop, I decided to take on the task . What Keezy wanted was for the bottom red HUcaseal costume (Pink) to be colored in black. Thankfully, with my experimenting with Photoshop less than a week ago, I knew how to simply replace colors, which make me look like an editing genius to people who don't know about the feature . Here's the first version: Keezy decided after that, he didn't want a white/black version since there was already a costume like that for HUcaseals, so he asked for an all black version, which was simple enough as well: I myself like the white/black version better, but it's Keezy's request... but I might start using version 1... I'll probably put it on a different costume so Keezy and I don't look the same when he's using it

I'm willing to bet you replace color using the weird, yet easy way. (using the "Replace Color" tool, or "Color Curves", or "Color Balance") I would suggest desaturating the areas that you are re-coloring, brighten the areas up as well as raise the contrast (so now it's not so grey, unless it's supposed to be a dark color, but even then you would probably want to keep it bright), and ... what's the tool called... hold on... Color Balance. There we go, you can also use Hue/Saturation but either way, I like color balance since it's very sensitive.
Yea, it's more lengthy and alot longer, but keeps the color and shading more accurate and more vivid. At least it makes recoloring skins like the Racast's back (where you have small orange markings and rust patches) less blotchy and weird-colored. Although I usually just smudge/color over them away after desaturating...
Regardless, "great job mang".

Lol I did replace colors using "Replace Color".
All I did was select all the pink (and later white) and desaturated it to -100, and reduced the lightness to -65.
But that actually keeps a lot of the details. The only issue is contrast, sometimes. But that wasn't as big of a problem as I thought it would be.
